This month, we were treated to a visit from my mom! She arrived in Newcastle to catch up with me and Ron and to spend some time helping to plan our upcoming wedding. With us organizing everything from abroad, she's been helping us manage everything on the St. Louis side. During her visit, she came with me to several bridal shops until we found the right one... and it ended up being at a place we squeezed in without a reservation. I couldn't imagine saying "yes to the dress" without her there - it was perfect! But this wasn't just a wedding visit; we also got up to a few other adventures while she was here. On one day, we took a bus to the famous Alnwick Castle and took tours on the both the real and cinematic history of the grounds. Even though it was a cold, drizzly day, we still got some beautiful photos!
Our next adventure was to the beach, where we spent time exploring the Tynemouth market and the beautiful coastal town before stopping for a fish and chips lunch overlooking the sea.
Before we left Tynemouth, mom mentioned that every new ocean she sees, she always dips her toe in the water. Nevermind that the tide was up and the waves were wild - this was her her first time to the North Sea! So, in went her toe... along with pretty much the rest of her :)

For Easter, we explored the Quayside market and met friends for some drinks along the river. Then, we wrapped up the rest of our week together relaxing and shopping in town. First we adjusted her own bridal veil for me to wear, ensuring the shape and color matches my new dress. Then, she got to see the Quayside from above when we took a stroll across the bridge into Gateshead. For lunch, we enjoyed some traditional afternoon tea. When we popped into another bridal shop on a whim, we ended up founding perfect wedding shoes unexpectedly, and on sale! We agreed that the theme of the whole trip was "Meant to Be," having found both the dress and the shoes at unexpected times, places and prices! To wrap up a perfect week, we stopped in a nearby pub to meet up with friends, share a toast and say goodbyes. I'm already missing my best friend, but our next visit will be here before we know it!
