With the Fourth of July right around the corner, you may be struggling to decide on the perfect side dish to bring to your picnic or BBQ. With a vested interest in all things sweet, I've put together a list of my 5 favorite sweet appetizers & desserts, all of which are quick and easy to prepare. Any one of these options is sure to be a hit at your Fourth of July party!
Strawberry Shortcake Bites
What's better than strawberry shortcake? Bite-sized strawberry shortcakes! One part fruit, one part shortcake, both parts awesomeness. Check out my step-by-step guide here.
Pie Crust Chips
The best part of every pie, in sweet little bite-sized chips. The perfect sugary finger food for any dessert buffet table. Read this blog for the recipe!
Red Velvet Mini Cupcakes
Something as good as red velvet cake shouldn't be a hassle to make. These mini cupcakes will pack a punch in your sweet tooth, complete with cream cheese icing. The best part? You can make it out of a boxed mix, but no one else has to know! You can find the recipe here!
Chocolate Covered Pretzels
The perfect love affair: sweet & salty. For the sweet & salty fan in you, this quick dish requires only two ingredients: pretzels and baker's chocolate. Melt the chocolate, mix in the pretzels, and leave in the freezer for 5-10 minutes.
Chocolate Dipped... um... ANYTHING
Chocolate covered strawberries. Chocolate covered pretzels. Chocolate covered marshmallows. Chocolate covered candies. Chocolate covered Oreos. My preference: Either strawberries or double-stuffed vanilla Oreos dipped in regular semi-sweet baker's chocolate, topped with a drizzle of white baker's chocolate. Of course, vice versa is just as satisfying.
